About my mama's girl.....

So, in the post about National Fire Prevention Week, I mentioned that I would tell you a little bit more about leaving Harlow with Grandma and the aunts, so here it is. We were gone for an hour, a short 60 minutes, and when I walked through the door to pick her up, I heard 3 grown women proclaim, "Thank God! Finally! Please take her, she's awful." All about my poor, sweet baby girl. You see, in the last couple months, Harlow has become a mama's baby and when mama isn't around, mama's baby isn't always that happy. And this night, for that one hour, she was particularily unhappy. They tried standing with her, walking around, playing toys, changing her, even going outside, but it all failed.
So Harlow and I had a talk.....
M- Harlow, you know how much Mommy loves you, right?!!?
And she gave me this happy face with high pitched noises.
M- And not to mention, you're the most beautiful girl in whole wide world, right?!?!
And she showed me those pretty eyes.
M- But just because Mommy loves you so much, and you love Mommy so much, doesn't mean you shouldn't love everyone else too, right.
And she gave me this confused look, and those eyebrows came out.
M- I know honey, but if you're naughty to everyone else, like Grandma and your aunts, then no one wants to babysit you, and they call you spoiled, and naughty, and say things like, "you're lucky you're cute."
Then she started getting upset and seem a bit apalled, so I took it all back because I just wanted to see her smile again.
M- You're right, they're just mean ladies. Mommy still loves you!!!
YEA!!!!!
So in conclusion- Suck it up Grandma and Aunties! Harlow loves her mama and that's all there is to it. She's an angel to me!

"Best Present Ever"

Grandpa called this weekend, asking us to come out to the farm because he had a little something for the boys.....but this......
This is no little something! This is a four wheeler...a REAL four wheeler! And Hudson proclaimed it his "best present ever!" Mommy doesn't feel quite the same way about it but I've been told I have to let the boys have fun. We still need to get him a real helmet to go with his real four wheeler. That bike helmet doesn't quite cut it, but he just haaaaaad to ride it! He had to ride it that night, and then he haaaaaaad to go back out the next day and ride it some more! He loves it, and he has that "I'm the happiest boy in the whole world but I'm trying to hold my smile in because I'm a little embarrassed" kind of smile that I love. And he's good. He can maneuver the big machine around thanks to the many Power Wheels he's been riding all his life.
Paxton prefers to just be a rider, not a driver. Mommy prefers that too!

Grandpa also bought himself a new toy and Mommy had fun on that one!

At the Fire Dept.

It is National Fire Prevention Week and the local fire department held an open house for kids to walk through and climb in all the trucks. Right up the boys' alley! Hudson especially. He's changing, that boy. He used to be shy and reserved, even nervous, but last night, he walked up to firemen and asked to go into trucks, turn on the lights (which he did ALOT!), for more stickers, and extra cookies and juice. He ran around like he owned the place, calling for his "buddy" Paxton who was a little slower obviously, tagging along behind.
We met our friend Noah there too. Oh, how these two miss each other. Since Paxton broke his leg he hasn't been going to daycare and hasn't been able to run wild with Noah. I overheard Pax say to Noah, "You're my friend" and Noah replied, "Yes I am!".

Harlow stayed at Sheri's with Grandma and the aunts (more on that later). She made funny faces and ate the spider.

five months

Harlow is five months old- October 8, 2012

At five months old.....
weight: 14 lbs (according to home scale)
length: 25 inches
diaper size: size 1
clothes: 3 months
bottles: 4-5 ounces every 3 hours
Little things about Harlow.....
-turned into a non-napping baby! if she's being held, she'll nap 30 minutes, and if you get her in the swing at just the right moment, tired but not crabby tired, she'll nap for an hour or so
-has rosy red cheeks most of the time
-when she's drinking a bottle, she plays with it, pulls it in and out, its quite annoying
-she's the snoopiest baby ever! always looking around to see what everyone is doing
-started eating cereal and likes it
-we switched formula to the kind she'll eat at daycare, she transitioned fine
-doesn't laugh very often, but always at her brothers when they cry!
-will sit in her jumpie or exersaucer for awhile, not jumping or walking
-drools, drools, drools!!!
-spits up quite a bit
-she's an even bigger mama's baby than she was last month
-Paxton calls her "Sister" but Hudson calls her Harlow
-a good car rider as long as we're driving
-really likes stroller rides
-getting better at grasping toys but still not great
-wakes up in the morning happy
-tries rolling around when getting her diaper changed
-loves being naked
-slowly but surely growing more hair, its fuzzy on top
-wears a headband just fine, never tries to take them off
-loves her do-do (pacifier)
-she found her toes and loves grabbing them, not to her mouth yet though, there's no room since her fists are constantly in it!
-is still a rock star at sleeping at nighttime, always falls asleep on her own and has been for months, still swaddled
-still not a big fan of daddy but she's getting there

this weekend

This last weekend was a chilly one, but we managed to get outside when we could stand the breezy wind and brisk air. Saturday, quite quickly, we attended the annual "give a Food Shelf donation, get a pumpkin" in town. The picture below says alot about our kids, "Paxton was not a happy camper and wasn't giving a smile for NOTHING. He's also a little shy and easily shuts down when he's uncomfortable. Hudson will cheesily smile his way through anything to get to the end result...candy! And poor Harlow is just...along. Thankfully we had warmer activites planned for the rest of the day. Hudson went combining with Grandpa and the rest of us went shopping!
Today the temps reached a little higher so we enjoyed another annual benefit, Pumpkinfest.
The boys rode the train; Hudson, Paxton, and Carson.
And played games, winning little prizes, one being these disguise glasses. Meet Mr. Paxton.
Lastly this evening, we ventured out for family pictures with Grandma Marsha. Our first with Harlow.....stayed tuned!!

Bath Babies

All the Johnson babies the first time in the bath seat......
Hudson at 5 months.
 Paxton at 4 months.
 Harlow at almost 5 months.

in the bath seat...

It was just Packy and Harlow home today. Hudson had school and then did some combining with Grandpa, so I took advantage and gave the two a bath together. It was Harlow's first time in the bath seat. She was a tad wobbly, but loved being in there with her big brother.

 Pac washed her toe-toes!
And showed off how crazy flexible he is! I missed the best shot because I was video taping, but his leg literally turned the wrong way and he put it up to the back of his head! It's good to see him move his left leg around so well. He still doesn't have the strength back to walk or even stand on his own for very long.

After awhile, I got smart and put the foam mat behind her. Much better padding!

And she still loves getting dried off and lotioned up! Always has.
 Sweet smile.

parks and picnics

We headed out for a picnic this afternoon. See my fancy picnic basket?? No....that's because its a ghetto Target shopping bag!! But we made do! I can't believe how great Hudson has gotten at riding his bike! Jamie is the bike rider of the family, and he's always taking Hudson on rides, claiming to go miles at a time. Something I never believed, thinking there's no way Hudson could bike that long, that well...but I was wrong! He maneuvers himself like a pro on that thing!

Hudson insisted we go to 2 parks today, and one of them just HAD to be his favorite park! He loves the slide below. I tried it, and man alive, I may have broken my behind! Who thinks of putting bumps on a slide? Seriously, ouch!

and so october is here...

It seems the leaves have changed to orange in one day! And all at the same time, fell from the trees! Our yard is filled with yellows and oranges. Beautiful, but short lived. And despite the boxelder bugs, ladybugs, and noseeums, we spend these warm afternoons outside. Mommy does it in the backyard or on a walk, and when Daddy comes home, he does it on bike rides. The kids love it all!
They thought going sideways and banging into each other was the funnest thing ever!
Sister just likes being outside. And smiling BIG!
 Collecting leaves on the trampoline.
